How to get to Książ Castle?
The Książ castle complex is located in the northern part of Wałbrzych (Lower Silesian Voivodeship), not far from the national road no. 35, which is also the easiest to reach it. The public forest and park areas of the Książański Landscape Park with designated walking and cycling alleys are located in the immediate surroundings. They allow you to comfortably reach the castle Książ itself. The car park is located a little closer to the main road, on the edge of the park, and it is about a 15-minute walk from the castle. Access to the stop is only possible via a one-way avenue bearing the name of the Hochberg Family.
What is worth seeing in Książ Castle?
The castle in Książ boasts almost 750 years of history, in which there was no shortage of turbulent periods. Rebuilt and expanded many times, today it is a unique place that is more than a monument in the traditional sense of the word. What does Książ Castle have? Attractions of the property itself, as well as its surroundings, are as follows:
- Książ Castle — visiting the complex is an opportunity to see richly decorated interiors and a collection of paintings that once ornamented the place.
- Palm House — this interesting building was built at the beginning of the 19th century for Princess Daisy, wife of the last of the Hochbergs. It features more than 250 plant species from around the world, including palms, pomegranates, philodendrons and date trees.
- Underground — tunnels hollowed out in Nazi times are one of the biggest mysteries of Książ Castle in Wałbrzych. The tour takes place along the terraces and includes a section of about 500 m long.
- Horse farm — is a historic building where you can now admire the Herd of Książ Stallions (mainly Silesian breed).
- Mausoleum of the Hochberg family — this interesting architectural monument is decorated inside with frescoes. It preserved sarcophagi and a platform transporting coffins.
Visiting Książ Castle, it is also worth seeing:

- monumental linden alley,
- walking path of the Hochbergs with a stone tunnel.
How much does an entrance ticket to Książ Castle cost?
Due to how many attractions the Książ Castle has to offer, entrance tickets come in several variants. The most expensive of them normally costs 85 PLN (75 PLN with a discount) and allows you to visit all the attractions of the complex — the interior of the castle, the Underground, the Herd of Stallions, the Mausoleum and the Palm House. Other available variants may include:
- Castle + Underground + Palm House (£75/65)
- Castle + Stallion Herd + Palm House (£59/49)
- Castle + Palm House (55/45 zł),
- Night sightseeing (from PLN 65).
It is also possible to purchase entrance tickets to specific objects that are part of the Książ castle complex. Visiting in this mode was provided for, among others, the Underground, Mausoleum or Palm House.
When can I visit Książ Castle?
Visiting Książ Castle is possible from Monday to Sunday all year round, except for a few days. Opening hours depend on the time of year. Currently, both the castle itself and the Palm House are available from 9:00-18:00 Monday to Friday and 9:00-19:00 on weekends.
However, for those wishing to visit Książ Castle, the opening hours given above are not the only opportunity to visit the mansion. On selected dates, night sightseeing is also organized there. One of its formulas is also dedicated to families with children.
